LEADERSHIP IS AN ART Leadership is an art.
It is an art because it is a shaping process involving an individual
operating in a distinct environment bringing, among other things, a
unique personal background, value system,
personality, workforce and organizational need. Fine Enterprises,
Inc. provides a program to assist this individual in developing their
leadership skills. There are two primary phases in this program: Phase I: Leadership Assessment The Key to Leadership Assessment is Assessing the Whole Individual A leadership assessment can be a very enlightening and rewarding experience. It begins with a general business review to ensure that the leadership coach understands the client' operating environment (including critical metrics). In addition, perspective surveys (with specific customers, vendors, employees, family), core business skill surveys, personality inventory tests and direct observational assessments (shadowing) will likely also be conducted. Moreover, during the assessment process, consultations with a psychologist, nutritionist, exercise therapist, interior designer, clothier, stylist, et cetera may be required. Prior to the onset of leadership coaching, a formal report is compiled and presented for review and discussion purposes. Three review sessions typically complete the Leadership Assessment Phase:

Phase II: Leadership Coaching The Key to Leadership Coaching is Coaching the Whole Individual While a class on leadership can provide some interesting ideas, it is not tailored to the client and the client environment and it does not involve one-on-one leadership coaching. A leadership coach holds up a mirror and helps the client to see themselves clearly when actively exercising their leadership skills. This coach must be able to tactfully address the client's shortcomings and constructive praise, support and build upon their strengths. The coaching process itself involves
exposure to topics in psychology, sociology and cultural anthropology.
Included in this subject matter is exposure to various leadership and
management concepts (evaluating leadership
roles, motivational techniques, inspiration techniques, understanding
and employing
charisma, communication tools and negotiation tactics, et cetera). After some
tailored preliminary learning, the
coaching aspect involves providing feedback
from subsequent direct assessments in order to facilitate the embodiment
of leadership concepts into the client' persona. |
